Der Russisch-Ukrainische Krieg begann Ende Februar 2014 in Form eines regionalen bewaffneten Konflikts auf der ukrainischen Halbinsel Krim. Im Anschluss an die völkerrechtswidrige Annexion der Krim folgten weitere Eskalationen durch Russland.
Ab dem 24. Februar 2022 folgte ein groß angelegter Angriff durch die russische Armee aus mehreren Richtungen mit dem Ziel, die ukrainische Regierung zu stürzen.
Nach Ende Februar 2022 waren nach dem russischen Überfall auf die Ukraine Millionen von Menschen auf der Flucht. Großteils handelte es sich um Frauen und Kinder; bis Ende März 2022 flohen über vier Millionen Ukrainer vor den Kämpfen und russischem Bombardement ziviler Ziele ins Ausland.
